Bright Treasures

Thank you for your interest in Bright Treasures, a publisher of metaphysical and spiritual books for children. Since metaphysical means "beyond the physical," the books published by Bright Treasures are intended to inspire both children and adults to explore what cannot be seen and discover the hidden treasures within themselves and the world around them.

Rebecca Whitecotton with Ethan, Alison and husband Randy

Bright Treasures was started by Rebecca Gittrich Whitecotton, author of Child of Mine, Know This, after she found few companies publishing children's books in the area of spirituality and metaphysics, and even fewer that were willing to take on this project from an unknown author. Rebecca originally created the book for her own children, and their love of the book has made it a success for her no matter what. Later she presented the story in a photo presentation for her church, Windward Unity Church in Kailua, Hawaii. It was met with a standing ovation, making it clear that the message was important to more people than her own children. A small press run of that book sold quickly and the encouragement she received led to Rebecca's courage to publish the book herself.  (To read more about the story behind Child of Mine, Know This, click here.)

Rebecca Whitecotton is a mom, writer, editor and graphic designer who was inspired to write children's books by her own children, Ethan and Alison. Her husband Randy is an Air Force officer whose career has given them the opportunity to live in Illinois, New Mexico, Ohio, Hawaii and Kansas. They currently live in northern Virginia.

Rebecca has a bachelor's degree in journalism from Northwestern University and a master's degree in sociology of religion from The University of New Mexico. She has worked as a reporter, freelance writer, newspaper/magazine layout artist, editor, public relations coordinator, marketing director, graphic artist and desktop publisher, and brings these skills together in Bright Treasures to produce quality spiritual children's books.

The formation and success of Bright Treasures is due in part to the assistance and support of many people. We would especially like to thank the following people for unwavering support and encouragement: Randy Whitecotton, Frank and Jane Whitecotton, Marcie and Gene Gittrich, Laura Lee, and the congregations at Windward Unity Church in Kailua, Hawaii, and Christ Unity Church in Leavenworth, Kansas.

Bright Treasures is not currently seeking submissions, but we are open to communication with other authors of children's spiritual books. You just never know how we might be able to help each other.

If you have comments or questions about Bright Treasures or its books, please contact Rebecca Whitecotton at rebecca@brighttreasures.net.
